New data from OnTrac’s State of Speed report shows:

  • 51% of brands operate non-regionalized fulfillment networks, utilizing one or two fulfilment centers with limited geographic distribution.

  • Traditional ground carriers typically pause sort and linehaul (as well as many pickups and deliveries) over the weekend.  
  • Packages shipped Friday often sit until Monday unless upgraded to air.  
  • That stall compounds for longer-zone shipments—especially for brands with only one or two fulfillment centers.
