Why OnTrac Joined SmartWay®OnTrac is proud to be a part of the SmartWay® Transport Partnership, an innovative collaboration with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). This partnership gives us insight into the industry and provides a framework to assess the environmental and energy efficiency of goods moving through our network.
"Becoming a SmartWay partner demonstrates our commitment to operate responsibly by reducing our carbon footprint through improved fuel efficiencies and emissions reductions," Director of Fleet Operations Steve Heron said. As a partner, OnTrac will contribute to the overall savings of 1.5 billion gallons of fuel, $3.6 billion in fuel costs, 14.7 MMT of carbon dioxide (CO2), 215,000 tons of oxides of nitrogen (NOx) and 8,000 tons of particulate matter. Carbon dioxide is the most common greenhouse gas, and nitrogen oxide is an air pollutant that contributes to smog. By joining SmartWay Transport Partnership, OnTrac demonstrates its strong environmental leadership and corporate responsibility. "Our goal is a continuous pursuit to identify equipment, technologies, and strategies that reduce our fuel consumption and lower our emissions,” Heron said. “Partnering with the EPA will help us ensure optimized operations and allow us to offer our superior regional service product at a low cost."
